De Anza College will host Friday night food trucks and live music starting Oct. 17 for the student body and community to enjoy.

Julia Malakiman, DASB Senate president, contacted Treatbot Inc. to bring Moveable Feast, the mobile food vendors, to campus.

Malakiman said she is excited to start something new on campus.

“De Anza has never hosted something like this before,” Malakiman said.

She said bringing Moveable Feast to campus for the student body and the community to take advantage of will be a huge success and she hopes it will grow throughout the years.

Students will enjoy not having to walk far for a variety of food they might not be able to get at the cafeteria, Melissa Epps, 20, French and Spanish major and De Anza student trustee

“If I’m on campus when it’s happening, then I plan to check it out and support,” she said. “I think it’s good that we’re trying something new.”

Movable Feast, based in Mountain View, organizes locations for food trucks to sell their food at events, businesses, schools and other locations.

Food vendors will pay DASB on a sliding scale based on the number of vendors and the amount produced in sales.

DASB Senate estimates profit of $240 per week for 49 weeks per year totaling approximately $11,760.

This amount represents approximately 15 percent of the projected profit made by Moveable Feast.

Additional arrangements have been made to increase the profit percentage if the event turns out to be more profitable than expected and if more than ten vendors participate.

The funds will go directly to DASB to provide additional funding for events and programs that benefit De Anza’s student body.

“Right now we’re focusing on more exotic foods,” said Ryan Sebastian, president of Treatbot.

He said students will benefit from a fun environment where the community is involved.

Moveable Feast is scheduled Friday nights from 5-9 p.m. with setup starting at around 3 p.m. and cleanup finishing by 11 p.m.

Eight to nine mobile food vendors are expected to participate.

Moveable Feast will be located in parking lot A, located off of Stevens Creek Boulevard.
