Keeping in shape with cardio kick

Students work out with individual red punching bags with one goal in mind: keeping their heart rates up.

Cardio kickboxing is a high-energy De Anza class that focuses on many different fitness levels. The action packed workout combines kicking, punching and techniques from many different martial art styles.

“The students find that keeping the body healthy will assist in keeping the mind healthy,” said Nancy Evans, cardio kickboxing instructor.

The purpose of the class is to strengthen the heart muscle and reduce your heart rate while showing improvements in flexibility, coordination, and strength conditioning.

“I try to keep the students focused and energized, the way I like myself,” Evans said. “My gift is seeing what the students have accomplished
