The De Anza college women’s volleyball team earned a second consecutive sweep against Skyline College in the De Anza Main Gym Oct. 27.
The Dons improved to 10-9 overall in the conference with a 3-0 victory.
The women’s volleyball team needed to achieve at least a 50 percent winning rate in order to advance to the Northern California playoffs. The team had to make a winning streak during the upcoming five-game match, which included three home games on the schedule.
The game took less than 90 minutes, since De Anza scored three sets in a row. The first set was dominated by the De Anza Dons, who made the plays that they wanted. Trifling errors by Skyline aided De Anza in the first set, which ended at 25-18.
De Anza did not lose the game’s tempo. The velocity of passes, the hustling defense and team plays continued into the third set. Most of the crowd cheered the De Anza Dons with loud chants as they swept the game De Anza also won the third set 25-19. With expectations high and the competition intense, De Anza won the game.
