Kanye Storms Grammys

Kanye+Storms+Grammys

Everyone seems to still be talking about this year’s Grammys: best dressed, worst dressed, who received awards and who didn’t. The most important topic, however, was Kanye West.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Kanye West has struck again. After being absent from the Grammys for the past six years, Kanye returned and quickly stirred up some controversy.
An award show just wouldn’t be complete without Kanye West’s antics, and the 2015 Grammys weren’t exempt.
Just when the hype from the famous microphone-snatching incident of the 2009 VMAs was finally dwindling down, Kanye pulled a Britney Spears and did it again.
Surprising everyone, celebrities and viewers alike, Beck won a Grammy award for Best Album of the Year, beating Beyonce among with other highly recognized artists.
As Beck was accepting his award, Beyonce’s No. 1 fan, Kanye West, stormed up the stage. The camera panned over to Jay-Z and Beyonce’s horrified faces.
It seemed they were afraid Kanye wasn’t going to let Beck finish his speech. Sound familiar?
At the last minute, Kanye turned around and returned to his seat, laughing and waving everybody off as he did so. At that, Jay-Z, Beyonce and everyone in attendance laughed along with him.

What I really wanted to do was joke around about what had happened before … It was kind of a joke, like the Grammys themselves.

— Kanye West

“What I really wanted to do was joke around about what had happened before … It was kind of a joke, like the Grammys themselves.”
Beck even attempted to get him back onto the  stage, but Kanye declined.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Feb. 11 Kanye said, “What I really wanted to do was joke around about what had happened before … It was kind of a joke, like the Grammys themselves.”
So it seems like Kanye wasn’t insulting Beck after all; Kanye was insulting the Grammys themselves. He did, however, go about it the wrong way, unintentionally insulting Beck in the process.
On the night of the Grammys, Kanye stated that  Beck should have given his award to Beyonce out of respect.
A few days later, he cleared up his mess in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, claiming it was a miswording on his part.
In his interview, Kanye explained himself , saying that in his opinion, the respectful thing to do when winning an award is mentioning the other artists in the category, which Beck didn’t do.
He went on to say he and Beck are friends; he respects him as an artist and hopes they remain friends despite this whole mess.
