A former De Anza College student was arrested Tuesday March 17 and charged with one count of battery and one count of sexual battery in connection with a sexual assault at De Anza Jan. 28, according to an email sent by FHDA police chief Ron Levine.

Alexander Sargsyan, 24, turned himself in to the Santa Clara County Jail and was released after posting $10,000 bail. Sargsyan will appear in Palo Alto Superior Court on April 30.

FHDA Police investigated the incident and the victim identified Sargsyan through photographs, according to an email sent by Marisa Spatafore, associate vice president of Communications and External Relations.

The victim reported to FHDA police that she was assaulted while walking near the Planetarium. She told police “the assailant grabbed her arm and pushed her against a wall, attempting to kiss her and touch her inappropriately,” according to an email notification sent the day of the assault.

The victim said she punched the assailant, who told the victim his name is Alexander, and ran away.
