DA Voices: Where are you transferring and why?

June 13, 2016

California State University East Bay I am transferring because I want to get my degree and be able to work under served youth in the community by collaborating with no profits in the Bay Area. I chose CSUEB because its the heart of the Bay Area and a very diverse campus community. Aside from Santa Clara County, I want to expand my network in the Bay Area while being able to go to school in the community. None of my parents graduated High school. [I am] the first one to go to college. Rebecca Marie Esparza, 22, communications

UC Los Angeles "I am transferring to maximize the diversity of my college experience where I’ve had the community college experience and now will gain the dorm life experience at UCLA. I’m also transferring to gain a highest degree such as a Masters or possibly a PHD in Biochemistry. Transferring means achieving what was formerly impossible for me to do out of high school. It also means I have accomplished a major goal for both my family and myself in being the first generation to attend college." Veronica Ramos, biochemistry, 23.
